The hyaluronic acid in HYCOSAN products is fermentatively sourced from natural streptococcal strains. Through microfiltration, precipitation, multiple recrystallisation steps, and drying, we obtain a highly pure, well-defined raw material that contains no animal components.
The exception is the eye ointment Hycosan® Night, which contains lanolin. Lanolin is a natural product from the skin secretions of sheep, obtained during the washing of sheep wool.
