The process involves microfiltration, precipitation of the hyaluronic acid, multiple recrystallisation steps for purification, and drying, resulting in a highly pure and precisely defined raw material that contains no animal components.
The exception is the eye ointment HYCOSAN/HYLO® NIGHT, which contains lanolin. Lanolin is a natural product from the skin secretions of sheep, obtained during the washing of sheep wool.
