Introduction
HYCOSAN DUAL is an eye drop for the soothing relief of itchy, burning dry eyes due to allergy.
HYCOSAN DUAL moisturises dry eyes, stabilizes the tear film and relieves inflammatory and allergic symptoms such as itching and burning.
HYCOSAN DUAL contains 0.05% high molecular weight hyaluronic acid for hydration of the ocular surface as well as 2% Ectoin. HYCOSAN® DUAL moisturises the cornea and conjunctiva and protects against excessive evaporation of tears. This stabilisation of tears relieves the inflammatory symptoms of irritated eyes. In addition, it also relieves the itching and burning sensations associated with allergy.
HYCOSAN DUAL is a sterile solution that is preservative free and phosphate free.
Composition
1 ml of HYCOSAN DUAL contains 0.05% hyaluronic acid, 2% ectoin, boric acid, borax (acts as a buffer to maintain pH levels) and water for injections.

How it works
HYCOSAN DUAL contains high molecular weight hyaluronic acid and Ectoin. Hyaluronic acid hydrates and protects whilst Ectoin stabilises and soothes for a dual combination approach.
High molecular weight hyaluronic acid contributes to a higher viscosity for longer residence time on the eye, meaning longer symptom relief for patients
- Hyaluronic Acid is a natural substance found in many organs of the human body.
- Due to its chemical structure, it binds and retains many times its own weight in water.
- Its unique property is that it forms a regular, stable and long lasting, lubricating and moisturising film on the eye surface that is not easily rinsed off.
- This so-called bioadhesive property ensures that the cornea and conjunctiva are protected and together with the physiologic tears the eye lid moves easily over the surface of the eye.
Ectoin is a natural substance gained from microorganisms that live in an extreme environment (e. g. salt lakes).
- Ectoin increases the binding of water at the cells of the ocular surface. This forms a physiologic barrier on the conjunctiva against allergenic acting substances.
- Ectoin stabilises the lipid layer of the tear film that protects against excessive evaporation of tear.
The interaction of hyaluronic acid and Ectoin provides intensive long lasting lubrication of the ocular surface and protects against evaporation of tears. While also relieving the itching and burning sensations associated with allergy.

Usage Instructions:
- Apply 3 times daily in each eye. If needed it can be applied more frequently.
- Leave 30 mins between application and use of other eye drops. Apply HYCOSAN® DUAL last.
- Eye ointments should always be administered after using HYCOSAN® DUAL.
- Can be used while wearing contact lenses. After inserting contact lenses, wait for about 30 minutes before applying the eye drops.
- May be used up to 6 months after opening
