Introduction
HYLO-DUAL INTENSE is an eye drop for the intensive therapeutic lubrication in dry, itchy and burning eyes.
HYLO-DUAL INTENSE can offer more intensive therapeutic lubrication of dry eyes and stabilisation of the tear film. Relieves inflammatory symptoms such as itching and burning.
HYLO-DUAL INTENSE contains 0.2% High Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate) for hydration of the ocular surface as well as 2% Ectoin. HYLO-DUAL INTENSE contains a higher concentration of Hyaluronic Acid which makes it more viscous and in so doing the eye is provided with an intensive, soothing and long-lasting moisturising film. Persistent or more severe symptoms are relieved, and the eye is protected against further irritation. The interaction of hyaluronic acid and Ectoin provides intensive long-lasting lubrication of the ocular surface and protects against evaporation of tears.
HYLO-DUAL INTENSE is a sterile solution that is preservative free and phosphate free.
Composition
1 ml of HYLO-DUAL INTENSE contains 0.2% sodium hyaluronate, 2% ectoin, boric acid, borax (acts as a buffer to maintain pH levels) and water for injections.

Suitable For
- Ages 6+ (if <12 years can use up to 10 drops/day)
- Pregnant and lactating women (can use up to 10 drops/day)
Post-Surgery - Concomitant use with other eye drops (but not suitable for use with ointments)
- Patients that need a product that is preservative, alcohol and phosphate free
- Patients who have struggled to use other types of bottles e.g. squeezy bottle
- Long term use
- HYLO-DUAL INTENSE®should not be used whilst wearing contact lenses due to its high viscosity. Usually, after application of Hylo-Dual Intense®, the viscosity is reduced after about 1 to 2 hours after which it shouldn’t be a significant problem to insert contact lenses. However, we don’t have controlled clinical data on this and it depends on the individual situation of each patient.
How it works
HYLO-DUAL INTENSE contains high molecular weight hyaluronic acid and ectoin. HYLO-DUAL INTENSE is advantageous because of the dual mode of action of hyaluronic acid and Ectoin.
- High molecular weight hyaluronic acid contributes to a higher viscosity for longer residence time on the eye, meaning longer symptom relief for patients.
- Hyaluronic Acid is a natural substance found in many organs of the human body.
- Due to its chemical structure, it binds and retains many times its own weight in water.
- Its unique property is that it forms a regular, stable and long lasting, lubricating and moisturising film on the eye surface that is not easily rinsed off.
- This so-called bioadhesive property ensures that the cornea and conjunctiva are protected and together with the physiologic tears the eye lid moves easily over the surface of the eye.
Ectoin is a natural substance gained from microorganisms that live in an extreme environment (e. g. salt lakes)
- Ectoin increases the binding of water to the cells of the ocular surface to form a physiologic barrier on the conjunctiva.
- Simultaneously, Ectoin stabilizes the lipid layer of the tear film that protects against excessive evaporation of tears.

Usage Instructions
- Apply 3 times daily in each eye. If needed it can be applied more frequently.
- Leave 30 mins between application and use of other eye drops.
- Apply HYLO-DUAL INTENSE® last.
- Do not use concomitantly with eye ointments.
- Do not use when wearing contact lenses.
- May be used up to 6 months after opening.
