Introduction
HYCOSAN EXTRA is an eye drop for the soothing relief of severe and persistent dry eyes.
HYCOSAN EXTRA is for the intensive, therapeutic lubrication of the ocular surface in more severe and persistent dry eye sensation as well as after surgical interventions on the eye.
HYCOSAN EXTRA contains 0.2% high molecular weight hyaluronic acid for hydration of the ocular surface. HYCOSAN EXTRA contains a higher concentration of Hyaluronic Acid which makes it more viscous and in so doing the eye is provided with an intensive, soothing and long-lasting moisturising film. Persistent or more severe symptoms are relieved, and the eye is protected against further irritation.
HYCOSAN EXTRA is a sterile solution that is preservative free and phosphate free.
Composition
1 ml HYCOSAN EXTRA contains 0.2 % hyaluronic acid, citric acid anhydrous, sodium citrate (acts as a buffer to maintain pH levels), sorbitol (osmolarity regulator) and water for injections.

How it works
HYCOSAN EXTRA contains high molecular weight hyaluronic acid for a higher viscosity that contributes to longer residence time on the eye, meaning longer symptom relief for patients.
- Hyaluronic Acid is a natural substance found in many organs of the human body and has an especially high water-binding capacity.
- Its unique property is that it forms a regular, stable and long lasting, lubricating and moisturising film on the eye surface that is not easily rinsed off
- This so-called bio-adhesive property ensures that the cornea and conjunctiva are protected and together with the physiologic tears the eye lid moves easily over the surface of the eye

Usage Instructions
- Apply 3 times daily in each eye. If needed it can be applied more frequently
- Leave 30 mins between application and use of other eye drops. Apply HYCOSAN® EXTRA last
- Eye ointments should always be administered after using HYCOSAN® EXTRA
- Can be used while wearing contact lenses. After inserting contact lenses, wait for about 30 minutes before applying the eye drops
- May be used up to 6 months after opening
- Keep out of direct sunlight and store below 25°C (77°F)
Additional Information
- For patients with limited hand strength (e.g., those with rheumatoid arthritis), a Compleye aid is available to help dispense drops more easily
